Fundamentals of Positional Shooting In Combat Application

This course is a pre-req for all other rifle courses including Carbine 2, vehicle counter assault/tactics, CQB 1 & 2, Small Unit Tactics, etc.
This is a one-day course that is the foundation of all FDT follow on courses. the goal is to move students out of the flat range mentality. Starting with the tactical application of
* Firearms Safety & Handling
* Fundamentals of Marksmanship
* Cycle of Operations
* True Zero
* Ballistic trajectory and the battlesight zero
* Rifle setup
* Engaging from standing, kneeling, prone and various positional shooting positions utilizing area resources.
As the day progresses students will absorb skills innate to the tactical environment such as
operating and reloading the weapon with either hand in case of injury.
You will learn fundamental applications of cover and concealment. When to use tactical versus emergency reloads,
basic weapon retention and hold over for close quarters shooting
By the end of the day students will be able to safely operate the rifle in and around other people and understand how to safely engage threats with a cognitive understanding of what is beyond the target in real world environments.
This course is taught by Special Operations Veterans in the FDT Cadre with actual experience in what is being taught and not dependent on theory only based training.
This course employs performance-based outcome training methodology. It is evidence-based practices learned in the most demanding environments around the globe. These skills are refined to a practical level for the student and are applicable to Military, Law Enforcement, Security Personnel, and Responsible Civilians. Please come with a ready to train mentality and humble to learn. Bring water, lunch and clothes/shoes appropriate for an active day at the range.
Minimum equipment is Carbine with iron sights and two-point sling, two magazines, and 250 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection. The course is based off of the M4 Carbine/AR platform. Optics are welcome and encouraged. Battle belts and any other kit is welcomed also. IFAK will be mandatory after graduation of this course for the follow-on courses and recommended to have on your kit at this course but not required.
